Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

Vehicle Required: SUV, Minivan, Cargo Van, or Sprinter Van
EEC Logistics is expanding our delivery operations in the Jacksonville, NC area and is currently accepting applications for 10 experienced Independent Contractor Delivery Drivers to support a major national retail delivery program.
This opportunity is for dependable, professional drivers who own their own qualifying vehicle, have prior delivery experience, and are prepared for consistent route work.
About the Opportunity
Drivers will complete assigned last-mile delivery routes originating in the Jacksonville area. Routes consist primarily of delivering retail packages and merchandise directly to customers.
Depending on the route assignment and vehicle type, drivers should be prepared to dedicate approximately 6–10 hours to their assigned route.
Drivers may also be responsible for:
- Organizing packages
- Sorting packages
- Scanning packages
- Loading packages into their vehicles before beginning their delivery route
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity and not a W-2 employee position.
Vehicle & Insurance Requirements
You must own or have reliable daily access to your own delivery vehicle.
Acceptable Vehicles
- SUV
- Minivan
- Cargo Van
- Sprinter Van
Your vehicle must be:
- Reliable and mechanically sound
- Clean and professional in appearance
- Large enough to accommodate the assigned route
- Properly registered
- Properly insured
Cargo insurance is required.
Applicants must maintain the required automobile and cargo insurance coverage throughout the duration of the contract and must be able to provide current proof of coverage during onboarding.
Driver Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have previous professional courier, delivery, route delivery, logistics, or last-mile delivery experience
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have a qualifying vehicle
- Maintain required automobile insurance
- Maintain required cargo insurance
- Have a satisfactory driving record
- Be able to pass required background and motor vehicle screenings
- Have a smartphone with reliable cellular service
- Be comfortable using a mobile delivery application
- Be able to use GPS navigation throughout the route
- Be able to scan packages and submit electronic proof of delivery
- Be able to safely load, unload, lift, and transport packages
- Be dependable and punctual
- Be comfortable working independently
- Maintain professional communication with dispatch and operations
- Provide excellent customer service
- Follow all delivery, safety, and client procedures
Previous delivery experience is required. This is not an entry-level opportunity.
Independent Contractor Responsibilities
As a 1099 Independent Contractor, drivers are responsible for providing and maintaining their own vehicle and business-related expenses, including applicable:
- Fuel
- Vehicle maintenance
- Automobile insurance
- Cargo insurance
- Mobile phone/service
- Taxes
- Other expenses associated with operating as an independent contractor
Independent contractors are responsible for managing their own tax obligations.
Compensation
Drivers are paid according to their assigned route and established contractor compensation structure.
Payments are issued biweekly.
Specific route compensation and additional operational details will be discussed with qualified applicants during the onboarding process.
